An Update To Our Site's Paid Tiers
Hello friends.
As Toros Talk continues into its second year of work, behind the scenes I've been wrestling with a decision. As of this evening I've finalized it: All paid tiers are being eliminated.
There's a few reasons for this. The biggest being: I no longer felt comfortable charging people regularly for content. When I launched paid tiers, the intent was to create unique content for those paying subscribers in addition to the free content I was producing. That idea never manifested due to a busy work and personal life. To me it didn't make sense to have those tiers when I couldn't deliver what was promised.
As well we live in what I call a "squeeze economy." Everyone, everywhere is trying to squeeze every last penny out of consumers. Be it sports team, streaming companies, grocery stores, and even the World Cup want to drain us for every single ounce of monetary resources at every turn. Participating in that did not make me feel good as a person. I started Toros Talk to share thoughts on the club I love playing the game we all love. It's not something that should cost by default, because that walls off people fairly or not. I want this to be a space for all supporters and fans, and I wasn't serving that mission properly.
So going forward all subscriptions to Toros Talk will be free. All content will be free, no matter what it is. If you had a paid account, it's been cancelled on my end and a prorated refund has been issued. If there's any questions about that, please reach out at torostalk@proton.me and I'll be glad to address them.
If for whatever reason you want to contribute monetarily to the website, I am setting up a way to do so. Toros Talk now has an optional ko-fi that will be linked at the end of posts in addition to our normal subscribe button. If you like a specific article or piece of content, feel free to tip because of it. It is by no means mandatory, but I wanted to leave the option for those who wanted to do so.
My hope is that the site will continue to grow through the World Cup and what looks to be a resurgence within the club. It's an exciting team to be a FC Dallas supporter be you casual, hardcore, or somewhere in between. Getting as many people in the tent as possible is the goal, to spread the gospel of soccer. It's the beautiful game, it's a worldwide game, and ultimately it's our game to experience without barriers or borders.
Thanks for your time, I promise to get back to the soccer content soon.
